Who We Are Project 2010

Have you ever personally suffered from discrimination? Tell me the instance. Has anyone you have ever known suffered from discrimination? Have you ever discriminated against anyone and why? How do you feel about discrimination?

Of course I have been discriminated against, almost everyone has. Being a girl men discriminate against me not being able to do certain things, such as fix cars, playing sports and other manly things. Being an immigrant people discriminate against me on knowing language, of not being smart enough. All these these negative comments try to engulf me into failure.  At times I feel as if I am drowning in an ocean of hate and negativity, and the only person that can save me is myself, because ultimately I am the only one that can ignore those comments and save myself the ill feelings. These comments could potentially bring my self esteem down, but they don’t. What I have learned for the 19 years that I have lived, is that when you focus on peoples negative comments, it distracts you from your goals. Focusing on the comments will never get you where you want to be.  Honestly I don’t think I have been discriminative, I have agreed to some certain stereotypes but nothing to the scale that I have endured.

Discrimination is a treatment against certain individuals or group that will affect the society and lead to create hatred.  Even though I feel different than the other people in the region I live , I still can adapt and try to accept the fact that we are all human even though we are different in our believes,  skin colors and race. In my experience discrimination is a really harsh consequence that comes from misunderstanding the reality of creature. I had a friend who lost their confident of their ability because of some people`s opinion and judge her on the way that they see it right.  These judgments are based on biases and assumptions. For instance I have not been in this kind of situation but from other’s experience, like friends my family they have been treated un fairly because of their last name: the favorite people in the area they have lived was the people who carry specific names (trip names) which they relate to the leader or the other individuals who run the country. This conflict had disappointed many people and made them feel discarded. From the viewpoint of absolute truth, what we feel and experience in our ordinary daily life is all delusion. Of all the various delusions, the sense of discrimination between oneself and others is the worst form, as it creates nothing but unpleasant.
